TWO men have been arrested for allegedly defrauding an elderly woman when cleaning her driveway.
The two men were arrested in Basildon yesterday after the woman from Benfleet attempted to withdraw thousands of pounds from her bank.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The men, aged 23 and 24, were arrested in Basildon town centre on Tuesday on suspicion of fraud and burglary.
"It follows reports that a woman aged in her 80s was asked to pay a significant sum of cash after they cleaned her driveway and painted her roof.
"The bank quickly acted to call police after realising she was a victim of crime.
"The men remain in custody."
