Police rushed to a busy residential street after a man was seen with a hammer.
Emergency crews raced to Woodgrange Drive, Southend, around 6.45pm yesterday evening, after receiving reports that a man was walking around with a hammer near the Kursaal.
Multiple police vehicles, including at least five marked and two unmarked police cars, were spotted at the scene near the junction with Honiton Road as officers conducted their investigation.
After a thorough search of the area, no weapon was found.
Police continue to conduct their enquiries.

A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: "Officers responded to reports that a man was seen in possession of a hammer near the Kuursal just after 6.45pm last night, Sunday July 19.
"We conducted a thorough search of the area and found no trace of the weapon.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
