PLANS to develop a park home site to add 83 new properties to an existing residential development of 170 were given the green light.

RoyaleLife has been given the backing of Basildon Council for the development at Royale Dunton Court, Dunton Road, Dunton just outside Basildon.

While the firm bosses are keeping tight-lipped about price and costs, the website lists new luxury, two bedroom homes start from £165,000.

Community leaders welcomed the investment but said existing residents on the site must be consulted.

Jeff Henry, Tory councillor for Laindon Park said: “I think they need to find a balance between those who live there and those they want to attract.

“The firm has already been making some adaptations such as new driveways for the homes. It’s going to be much of the same there is there already and will be a higher price range than some of the homes there.

“I think it’s important the firm is working with the existing residents who already live there and make it work for everyone.

“Residents who live there have told me they want to be involved with the development and the process.

“I am pleased to see the firm is investing in the area but it must be for everyone including those who live there now.

“The firm is investing heavily in the area and has been for sometime now. These homes pack a pretty penny and are lovely homes.

“The firm must also be investing as much time and effort into the residents, and take them on this journey with them too.”

A spokesman for RoyaleLife said: “Royale Dunton Court is a well-established bungalow development that is well located for services and facilities. Within the boundaries of the existing development, there is potential for additional high-quality bungalow homes. Currently, there are 170 homes on the site, and this lawful development certificate from Basildon Council will allow a further 83.

“The development will be entirely within the boundary of the development, so will not encroach onto additional land. This certificate does not affect the caravan storage area.”

The firm’s website states the homes are for people aged 45 years old and over.

The Dunton site also has a clubhouse with entertainment, events and a community bus for a small annual fee.
