ESSEX coronavirus cases have risen by 100 in the past 24 hours.

As of 9am yesterday morning, there are 380 cases in the the Essex County Council area, up from 301, along with a further 39 positive cases in Southend, up from 31, and 54 in Thurrock, up from 41.

This means the total amount of cases in all of Essex stands at 473, a 100 case rise from 373 cases on Monday.

The news comes as a further 14 people have died after testing positive for the coronavirus in Essex.

A further 367 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died in England.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 1,651.

A skilled former NHS nurse has shut her business and signed up to help coronavirus patients on the front line for the next six months.

Julieann Politt, owner of VitaminIV and Collagen Aesthetics, in Leigh, has been accepted as a Pandemic Registered Nurse (PRN) after putting in a fast-track application to help.

After accepting her application on Monday, the NHS has asked her to clear her schedule for the next six months.

Hundreds of parents took to the streets around a primary school for a round of applause for the teachers.

The mass applause was for Plumberow Primary Academy in Hockley on Friday evening at 6pm.

Parents and pupils showed their appreciation of the school’s teachers and support staff and the work they have done to help children continue to learn despite national school closures in response to the coronavirus.
