A MAN had his face slashed by a gang in Pitsea.
Police have launched an appeal after the man in his 40s was attacked when walking towards the underpass near McDonald's in Station Lane.
The incident happened at 11pm on January 12, when he was approached by three men.
A police spokesman said: "One of the men held what has been described a sharp object to his face.
"As he tried to move away he sustained a deep cut to his cheek.
"The men then made off.
"If you saw anything, have any CCTV or dash cam footage, or have any other information please call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/6463/20 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Luke Mackenzie, councillor for Pitsea, said: "Anyone caught caught carrying a knife need locking up, they can't harm us if they're locked behind bars.
"On Monday we held discussions on this subway to explore how it can be more safe, including improved lighting and CCTV.
"Last year when in administration we paid for extra police officers who now cover Pitsea, but we need to see extra patrols to show these criminals that they are not welcome."
