THE Shoebury Big Beach Bang has been cancelled this evening.

The Big Beach Bang Committee announced the news on social media this afternoon.

They said: "We are very sorry to announce that following advice from the fireworks firing team, the wind is too strong to fire the fireworks and to guarantee the safety of all of our attendees.

"We have worked hard to pull this event together so that we can continue to share the funds with groups across our community. We are so disappointed that the weather has played a part in us being unable to have our normal brilliant event, as I am sure you are too.

"We wanted to let you know as soon as possible so that you can make alternate plan, and we also know that you may have a few questions - we have a lot to do, - we will get to these as quickly as we can, but please be patient if we don't answer that quickly - we promise that we'll answer everything as quickly as we can.

"We are part of the round table family and Basildon Round Table have agreed to accept any Big Beach Bang tickets at their display tomorrow night - We will post their event details here soon.

"Also, there is a display at Belchamps, in Hockley and they have kindly agreed to take our tickets already paid for or bought online. Please take your tickets and online order.

"We will have Southend Roundtable representatives at these events to assist.

"If you purchased your ticket from one of our shops/outlets then please take the tickets back to the place you purchased them from for a refund.

"If you purchased these online from our website, then we will issue information on how to get a refund as soon as we can, please bare with us."
