A cannabis factory was found at a home after two men tried to break into the property.

officers rushed to the incident in Benfleet last night and then made the discovery at a nearby home.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly after 5pm on Thursday 17 October with reports of two men breaking into an address in Meadow Road, Benfleet.

"When officers arrived, the suspects had gone but a large number of cannabis plants were found inside the property.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Canvey local policing team on 101.

"Alternatively, contact the Crimestoppers charity 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org"
