A SHOP was evacuated after what was thought to be an unexploded bomb was brought in.
Essex Police attended Les and Gary's Furniture Shop in London Road on Sunday after the owners reported an unexploded bomb had been brought in.
A spokesman for the police said: "The small cylinder had been brought in from the nearby seafront.
"The shop was briefly evacuated as officers attended to examine the device.
"The EOD attended and removed the item, which was not believed to be an explosive."
In a post on their Facebook page, Les and Gary's said: "Thank you to Essex police and the specialist unit who attended today and resolved the incident.
"They were unable to confirm the identity of the object but were able to dispose of it safely and promptly."
