A DEVASTATED owner has paid tribute to her beloved dog who has sadly died.

Casey Holloway, of Haven Road, Canvey, was forced to say goodbye to her beloved pug Huey on Thursday.

'Goodbye' - little Huey died on Thursday

Last month, Huey became the subject of a fundraising campaign to try and fund a lifesaving operation on his bladder and liver, as throughout his short life he was in and out of the vets and specialist care centres, having been diagnosed with a skin infection, urine infection and a liver shunt.

This meant there was an abnormal connection between the vein which sends toxins and by-products to the liver and another vein, meaning blood gets bypassed around the liver without being cleaned.

Casey, 29, initially set up the fundraising page to cover the operation costing £12,000, and had managed to raise £2,000.

However, the operation was brought forward to this week so his bladder and liver could be addressed at the same time, but shortly after the operation Huey’s health quickly deteriorated and sadly died on Thursday.

Casey has paid tribute to Huey, saying he was “more than just a dog”.

She said: “This little pug was not just a dog he was my little soul.

“He was attached to my every move, didn’t rest until I sat down, laid on my towel while I had a bath, slept on my head at night or with his paws round my neck, sat on my chair with me everyday at work. My little shadow.

“I have never felt pain like this, I really hope it will feel better soon but I can’t imagine my life now without you in it.”

Casey and her partner Daniel agreed a payment plan from the vets in order to bring the operation forward due to the severity of Huey’s condition.

The money raised from the fundraising page will go towards the cost of the operation.

Casey added: “Thank you to everyone who helped us and for those who have sent in lovely messages since Thursday, it really means a lot to us.”
