A PRINT shop owner has slammed flytippers for dumping rubbish by his shop three times during the weekend.

A van, believed to be used for house clearances, was seen coming back and forth and illegally dumping waste right by the Thames Ambulance Service base.

Rod Hall, owner of Design 4 Print, Vikings Way, said when he returned to work on Monday he saw the piles on Charfleets, Canvey.

He told the Echo: “When I saw all that rubbish outside when I got to work, I looked back on my cameras straight away and saw men had turned up in a shoddy van and unloaded stuff from the back of it and just dumped it there on the floor.

“They did it twice on Saturday and again on Sunday.

“It’s just disgusting.

“We have to pay £500 a month for our rubbish to be taken away, so why shouldn’t they have to pay their way?

“We are trying to run a business here, now we have have to pay for it to be cleared.”

Mr Hall reported the incident to Castle Point Council, but was told they couldn’t investigate unless Mr Hall obtained permission from the person who owned the items shown on the CCTV.

When he posted the images of the flytip on Facebook, he was inundated with messages from people who recognised their belongings.

Mr Hall added: “I was messaged by a couple of people who said they had paid someone to take their items away and recognised the van and the items in the photos.

“I have been contacted by so many people who are trying to get him prosecuted. It’s just not on.”

Some of the items dumped include a child’s Wendy house, a mattress and some furniture.

A spokesman for Thames Ambulance Service: said: “Thankfully this particular incident hasn’t impacted on our non-emergency transport operations at Thames Ambulance Service’s Canvey depot.

“We would urge the community to dispose of waste correctly, especially in areas where flytipping could potentially impact on our ability to transport vulnerable people to vital appointments.”

The council did not respond to requests for comment or clearance.
