VILE yobs lobbed rocks at a family car on one of south Essex’s busiest roads, covering a young girl in glass.

A mum and her five children, from Canvey, were travelling along the A13 in Pitsea when the rocks hit her car.

She and her children were left petrified by the incident.

The missiles caused quite a bit of damage to the car window.

The angry mum, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “My six-year-old and I found it very traumatic.

“My little girl will not sit in the front of my car now.

“I also had all my children with me, on my own as my husband was in a separate vehicle.

“He was towing our caravan for the first time and we were off away on holiday for the weekend over to Ashford.

“The rock was thrown just past Pitsea flyover, I was travelling with my children who aged six, four, two, one and eight-weeks-old.

“The window smashed to the point it had glass shards internally come away.

“We were all feeling shaken up.

“I was feeling worried for my little girl as she was screaming.

“I had to pull over and I was shaking and rang my husband who then met me at a nearby pub car park.

“My little girl was still screaming about the glass falling onto her.

“It was a very loud bang.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “It was reported that damage had been caused to a silver Citroen Space Tourer around 4.30pm on Friday, 19 April, after what was described as a large rock hit the car while it was driving along the A13.

“Witnesses, or anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour around this time, are asked to contact Basildon Police Station on 101.”
