FAMILIES enjoyed immersing themselves in a magical Alice in Wonderland-themed event as part of the Easter break.

The Easter Wonderland, at The Victoria Shopping Centre, in Southend, proved to be a big hit.

The free event saw some fantastic Alice in Wonderland characters engage with children of all ages, from the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit, to Alice herself.

Visitors had the opportunity to grab a free printed photo with the characters at the Mad Hatter’s tea party or a special balloon from the Playing Card balloon modeller.

The Queen of Hearts was also on hand to challenge visitors to a game of croquet in her garden, as well as the Queen’s Cook, who invited everyone to decorate some delicious cupcakes.

If that wasn’t enough, there was free face painting, and some tasty chocolate treats to enjoy.

A string of entertaining shows performed by the Joker Playing Card, captured the attention of adults as well the children.

A spokesman for The Victoria Shopping Centre said: “The event was a huge success and there were so many families having a wonderful time with our Alice in Wonderland characters.”

He added: “The children loved meeting the Alice and White Rabbit characters and were given a free photo as a lovely keepsake.”
