A MAN has been disqualified from driving for two-and-half years after admitting drink driving.

Vygantas Navickas, 36, of Montacute Road, Catford, was arrested on Stifford Clays Road in Grays on April 14, 2016, after officers saw a van driving erratically.

He was charged with drink driving following a breath-test in which he blew over the alcohol level limit and was bailed to Basildon Magistrate's Court.

A court warrant was issued for Mr Navickas after he failed to appear at court. He was arrested following a routine stop check on March 9 before being taken to court and admitting the offence.

The 36-year-old was disqualified from driving for 30 months, ordered to pay £220 in costs and compensation and was given a community order to complete 230 hours of community work in the next 12 months.

Matt Hine, of Essex Police’s Casualty Reduction Section, said: “Navicakas got into his vehicle while under the influence, putting himself and other road users in danger.

“He then showed a complete disregard for the courts by failing to attend and was only arrested following a routine road stop.
