An annual giving day event is coming to Thurrock and residents and businesses are encouraged to join in.

Giving for Thurrock Day on Friday March 29 will be a day of celebration of all the good things that happen in Thurrock.

It is an opportunity for every individual, group, business or retailer to give something back to the local community where they live and work.

Giving for Thurrock raises money and connects businesses to communities and at the very heart is Thurrock.

All money raised stays in the borough to help our friends, neighbours and communities.

In the past 12 months, Giving for Thurrock has helped over 150 people by distributing funds on the doorstep.

Some of the projects include a 12 months course at the Martial Arts Academy in Tilbury. The funds have enabled the club to offer a hugely discounted course of Boxercise for children in the local area. Along with increase their health and wellbeing, the course will also build self-confidence, concentration and promote healthy eating and weight loss.

Giving for Thurrock is encouraging everyone to get involved and pledge their support. Whether you can spare a £1 for the fund or 10 mins to chat with an isolated person, you have something to give.

If you would like to pledge support and either raise funds or give back to your local community contact giving@thurrock.gov.uk, checkout the Facebook or Twitter pages. Information pack is available online thurrockcvs.org/giving-for-thurrock
