An inquest into the death of a man who murdered Basildon mum Tina Cantello is due to open tomorrow.

The inquest opening will be held at Stourport Coroner's Court in Worcestershire tomorrow morning, where it is expected that Geoffrey Hutton's cause of death will be revealed.

Hutton was serving a life sentence at HMP Long Lartin, in Worcestershire for fatally stabbing Tina at his home in June last year- however, on Friday, February 8, after his body was discovered in his prison cell.

West Mercia Police confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious and said a file is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "West Mercia Police were called at around 6.30am on Friday, February 8, to reports of a concern for welfare for a man at HMP Long Lartin prison in Evesham.

"On attendance, the body of a man in his 30s was found. His next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

The Prison Service also said that they will carry out an independent investigation into the prisoner's death.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said: "HMP Long Lartin prisoner Geoffrey Hutton died in prison on February 8.

"As with all deaths in custody there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman."

Tina Cantello went missing on June 8 when she failed to come home from work, causing police and family to launch a desperate appeal to try and find her.

However, police called off the search after a body was found just before 6pm at an address in Derby Close, Langdon Hills  on June 9.
