Glamour model Aimee Spencer's death to be subject of ITV documentary

Aimee Spencer died when she fell from the first floor window at Chichester Terrace in Brighton in July 2016.

The Geordie Shore model - who was living in Basildon at the time of her death and went by a stage name of Carla Mai - died from her injuries days after the incident.

She had also appeared on Babestation TV and became a webcam girl, starring in the 2014 BBC3 documentary, The Truth About Webcam Girls.

She had been at the flat of drug dealer Daniel Lewis.

Neighbours had spotted Lewis, 30, at the window in an “agitated” state and police found up to £15,000 worth of drugs in his flat.

He was naked when he answered the door to police officers and appeared to be high on drugs.

After a suspected murder inquiry was launched, he was cleared of any involvement in her death.

Mr Lewis made his reputation selling “party platters” to high-end clients which included cocaine, ketamine, LSD, and methadone.

He boasted of making “f*** loads of money” and prosecutors estimate he had a nationwide £20,000 operation using the dark web.

Lewis shared a flat with his wife Helen. On the day, a message on Ms Spencer’s phone, from him, read: “Get in, get your kit off, get Helen making balloons while I’ll make a line under your nose as long as a yeti’s leg.”

At her inquest in May 2017, a coroner found Aimee died as a result of injuries sustained from the fall but the exact circumstances surrounding it remained uncertain.

Last October, Lewis, 30, pleaded guilty to seven counts of possessing drugs, including cocaine, ketamine and LSD, with intent to supply.

His case was subsequently referred to the Attorney General for being “unduly lenient” and last month he was jailed for three years by judges at the Court of Appeal.

After the case, Ms Spencer’s family praised the “wonderful people of Brighton” for their support.

They said they have been on a “rollercoaster ride” of emotions, and said: “We are unlikely to know what happened that day.

“All we do know is we lost our Aimee. Our wonderful, vibrant, quirky daughter and our lives are now the poorer for that.”

Now presenter Katie Piper will be looking into Ms Spencer’s death for a documentary on ITV.

The documentary, The Death Of Aimee Spencer, follows DS Sally Hodges and her team from Brighton CID as they scour the flat for clues to try to find an answer.

The broadcaster said: “The documentary delves deep inside the investigation, using interviews with detectives trying to solve the case, body camera footage from officers who were at the scene, and footage of key developments to piece together how Aimee, an adult film star and webcam girl, came to fall to her death from a first-floor window.”

The Crime and Punishment series will appear on our screens on ITV on Thursday at 9pm.
