A BOY has been taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining a stab wound.
Police were called by ambulance colleagues to an incident in High Street, Southminister, at about 4.30pm yesterday.
A 14-year-old sustained a stab wound to his hand, and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
An ambulance spokesman said: "An ambulance and ambulance officer attended and treated a male patient at the scene before transporting him to hospital for further assessment and care."
A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is in police custody.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to High Street in Southminster at around 4.30pm yesterday following reports that a teenager had sustained a stab wound to his hand.
"An ambulance and ambulance officer attended and treated a male patient at the scene before transporting him to hospital for further assessment and care."
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call us on 101 and quote incident number 777 of 23 February.
"Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
