COLCHESTER'S coronavirus infection rate has risen slightly, with 1,136 cases confirmed in the latest seven day period.

The borough's infection rate is now 583.4 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 1,136 cases in the seven days to January 17.

This has increased from 573.2 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to January 16, when there were 1,116 cases.

A week earlier the infection rate was 758.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Tendring's Covid-19 infection rate continue to fall and is now 829.7 cases per 100,000 people.

However, the coastal district does have the highest infection rate in Essex adjusted for population.

A map also shows the number of coronavirus cases in each area of Colchester.

The figures are for the seven days to January 16.

Prettygate and Westlands remains the worst affected area adjusted for population, with an infection rate of 793 cases per 100,000 people.

Parson's Heath has the second highest infection rate, of 745.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Mile End and Braiswick had the most cases in a week with 106, followed by Parson's Heath, which had 104.

Wivenhoe and University continues to have the lowest infection rate in the borough, whilst Horkesley Heath, Langham and Dedham had the lowest number of cases.
