New figures show the infection rate across the Braintree District has dropped slightly.
Figures from Public Health England show that the infection rate stands at 889.9 compared to 1165.8 the seven days prior.
The latest figures are for the seven days leading up to January 9.
They also show that 1358 new cases have been recorded.
The drop in cases comes as Downing Street is reportedly considering implementing tougher measures across England if compliance with the current restrictions fails to improve.
The worst affected area is currently Bocking Churchstreet & Blackwater, with an infection rate of 1,670.1 and 155 cases.
Coggeshall & Kelvedon are the least infected areas at 545.8 and 58 cases.
