A SALON is hoping to spread some festive cheer this Christmas after setting up a postbox to Santa.

Sheer Creations, which is based in Parsonage Street, Halstead, has installed the postbox outside the premises and is encouraging youngsters to drop off their letters for direct delivery to the North Pole.

As long as the letter is addressed, each will receive a reply and a gift, as if from the big man himself.

The idea is the brainchild of the salon’s owner, Danni Smith.

Danni, 37, said: “I wanted to bring smiles to children’s faces as it’s been a strange year and a very tough one and I wanted to still bring Christmas spirit to the town.

“Because children can’t go and see Santa this year, I still wanted them to write down and tell Santa what they wanted.

“I will be replying by letter with a small gift inside.”

The red postbox has been secured thanks to Steve from the Colne Valley Postal History Museum and will be located next to the shop’s window.

There will also be chocolate coins on offer for youngsters to enjoy.
