Quick-thinking police officers saved a woman who was found collapsed near a water tower after a suspected overdose.

Colchester PCSOs Oscroft-Curtis and March were on patrol in the town centre on Thursday afternoon when they discovered the woman.

She was found at the rear of Colchester's Victorian water tower, Jumbo, unresponsive and unconscious.

The two officers provided first aid until an ambulance arrived.

An officer who updates the Essex Police - Colchester social media page said: "They came to the assistance of a member of the public who may have taken an overdose.

"While on foot patrol in the town centre our two PCSOs walked to the rear of Jumbo water tower and found an unresponsive and unconscious female on the ground.

"Officers have rendered first aid until an ambulance arrived, when the still unresponsive female was taken to Colchester General Hospital.

"The female is now recovering thanks to our two PCSOs."
