This Memories piece completes a royal hat-trick with a look back at Prince Charles' visits to north Essex.

Having previously reflected on appearances by the Queen and Princess Diana, we're taking a trip down memory lane to the Prince of Wales' trips to Colchester in 2001, 2005 and 2014.

We also have pictures of his visit to Walton in 1989.

One of the photos has never previously been published and was taken in 2001.

It was submitted by Sir Bob Russell, the town's MP from 1997 to 2015 and the current High Steward of Colchester, following a meeting with people involved in The Prince’s Trust.

A reception was held at Olivers, in Gosbecks, Shrub End.

Pictured in the receiving line is Audrey Russell, Sir Bob's wife, after being introduced to Prince Charles by the then Lord Lieutenant of Essex.

Sir Bob and Lady Russell have the distinction of being the only people who were presented to the Queen on both of the last two of her three visits to Colchester.

The first was in May 1985 when he was deputy mayor and Audrey was deputy mayoress, and the second 19 years later in 2004 when he was Colchester’s MP.
