A BRAVE youngster had her locks chopped off for the first time in order to donate them to a charity.

Rhiannon Bhandari, who will be going into Year 1 at Spring Meadows School, in Pound Farm, Dovercourt, had her long hair cut on Saturday, August 1.

The five-year-old donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Her mum, Trisha Bhandari, of Manor Road, Dovercourt, said Rhiannon was not keen on the idea of having a haircut, but changed her mind after learning it could be sent to help sick children.

The 35-year-old said: “She was so excited about helping some other little girls and letting them have her pretty hair.

“Once she saw her new hair she loved it and was so happy that she doesn’t need to tie it up anymore, as her hair was so long she only ever had it tied up.

“She is now looking forward to growing it long again so she can send more to help more children.

“Personally I felt nervous about getting her hair cut as we are so used to her long hair.

“I wasn’t sure how she would look with short hair, but I love it, it really suits her, and I am so proud that she was happy to donate it to such a good cause.”
