Police will be ramping up patrols near a supermarket amid concerns about antisocial behaviour.

Officers in Witham say they have received several reports of youths causing problems outside Asda, in Highfields Road.

The youths are said to have been hanging about in the trolley store area, intimidating customers and being abusive to staff.

Police also say bikes left near the store by the youths are also causing a trip hazard to shoppers.

A force spokesman added: "We will be carrying our regular patrols in the area, moving the youths on and challenging behaviour will be dealt with accordingly.

"Please be vigilant whilst out shopping in this area, we are aware of the issues and will be working hard to make sure the area is safe for visitors to the store."

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
