A SYMBOL of Maldon has returned after more than 30 years.
The Pride of Maldon rose has returned to the town after a long absence.
Earlier this year eight of the special roses were planted, some at the Friary Walled Garen, one at the Museum of Power, at Langford, and one at St Peter’s Churchyard.
Three others were planted at residents’ homes.
Seven out of the eight roses were a success.
Twenty-two cuttings were taken and the eight bushes were raised by Harkness Rose Growers.
The Pride of Maldon rose will be featured in photographs, greetings cards and collages at the Heritage Centre.
The rose was originally grown by Harkness Rose Growers and bushes were sent to Australia and America where there are namesake towns.
