TEACHERS have somehow found themselves in the middle of a row over a return to the classroom.
The Government wants pupils in the reception class, Year 1 and Year 6 to be the first through the school gates on June 1, subject, of course, to the country meeting the hallowed five tests.
Teaching unions question the safety and sense of the move saying it will put their members’ lives at risk as well as the families of the children who attend.
Too many lives have already been lost to this pandemic but there is a moment when the country must take steps back to normality.
Perhaps it is time to think outside the box and for all parties to come up with a scheme to provide structure and guidance to children without putting anyone at risk.
