AN ART student has raised hundreds of pounds for the NHS by painting iconic village buildings.

Libby Hanness, 15, has been putting her skills to the test during the lockdown by painting the likes of the Booking Hall Cafe and The Street pub in Rayne for charity.

Libby, who attends Helen Romanes School in Great Dunmow, has been able to raise more than £300 by selling off the paintings.

Parents Jemma and Clark say their daughter was inspired to launch the fundraiser when the lockdown began.

Jemma add: "Following the clap for carers at the start of the lockdown Libby wanted to do her bit to raise some money.

"Libby has a passion for art and decided to paint houses, businesses and buildings in the local area.

"We are very proud of Libby’s initiative and creativity at raising money for our key worker hero’s and at the same time, bringing some happiness during these unusual times."

Libby is continuing to paint in aid of the NHS and has received a number of letters from donors praising her for her work.
