DOZENS of men visited a rugby club for health checks.

More than 70 men attended the CHAPS Men’s Health Day at the Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club last Thursday.

Chris Booth, clinical director of CHAPS, said: “It is the third time we have held the event.

“There were 58 prostate checks, and six abnormal results.”

He said prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and there are about 47,700 new prostate cancer cases in the UK every year.

Other health checks during the day included skin cancer screenings and physiotherapy sessions.

The NHS health checks on the day were also fully booked.

Sheena Parsons, of Harwich and Dovercourt Fellowship For the Sick, which runs the event, said there was a steady flow of men getting checked during the day.

The health check event was held between 10am and 4pm.
