A SCOUT group ditched their uniforms for posh frocks and smart shirts when they attended their own version of the Oscars.

The 1st Silver End Scout Troop annual awards night saw more than 60 members come together to celebrate their achievements throughout 2019.

The youngsters were joined by friends, family and members of the community on the night, which aimed to replicate the famous Oscar awards ceremony in Hollywood.

Numerous awards were handed out, such as ‘best new Scout’ and ‘most improved Scout’, with the winners chosen by the Scouts themselves.

The night ended with a party which saw everyone get up and dance along to music.

A spokesman for the group said: “It was an awesome night.

“All the Scouts were extremely well dressed as they sat down to find out who had won what for the various categories they had voted on.”

The Silver End Scouts is open to girls and boys aged between 10 and 14.
