A SCOUT group will be able to keep warm on their upcoming ski trip thanks to the help of a housebuilder.

Redrow Eastern has donated £500 to Silver End Scouts so the group can buy brand new mid-layers for their trip to Poland in February.

The group, which is made up of both boys and girls aged between ten and 14, will travel to eastern Europe to try their hand at a mix of apres-ski activities.

Redrow has also ordered subcontractor Andersons to construct a new footpath outside the Scout’s main base in Silver Street to make it more accessible for wheelchair users.

Assistant Scout leader Phil Kilburn said: “We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from Redrow. Our HQ is in use five nights a week, so the new footpath has been a necessity for a while – we cannot thank Redrow enough for allowing us to cater to all of our members.

“To receive a sponsorship from such an established name in the region is so exciting for us here at Silver End scouts.”

Redrow sales director Kerry McCoubrey said: “It is a pleasure to help Silver End Scouts.

“A big thank you is also in store for Andersons, our sub-contractor, who have kindly created the footpath.”
