SCORES of Santas gathered in Maldon to set off on a festive run.
The annual Santa Fun Run, held on Sunday, had a spectacular eighth year.
Once again there were 3km and 5km races, with runners of all ages and backgrounds taking part in the event, in aid of the David Randall Foundation.
A spokesman said: “Many families ran the race together, enjoying the winter sunshine and music which was provided by the Plume Adult Music School which brings together local people who want to learn an instrument in a friendly, informal environment.
“For those spectating there was also a chance to meet reindeers Steve and Kasper, brought along by Sarah Bardwell.
“These proved to be popular with the children and adults alike.
“These majestic creatures certainly seemed to enjoy the attention and the beautiful Maldon surroundings.”
The build-up begun at 9.30am with the traditional Santa warm-up routines and a mascot race, followed by the main event at 10.30am.
Santas of all ages set off on the routes through Maldon’s Promenade Park.
Runners received a medal at the end presented by foundation volunteers.
All the proceeds will go to the foundation – set up in memory of Maldon cricketer David Randall – helping it to continue providing days out for Essex residents with life-limiting conditions, and financial awards to talented musicians and sportspeople.
