BALLROOM dancers showed their prowess to judges at a glittering competition nearly 300 miles away.

Talented students from Ballroom Business, which is based in Dovercourt, competed at the national event held in Blackpool.

Chloe Carman, 21, who runs Ballroom Business, said: “We are so incredibly proud of all 32 students that qualified to dance at the Imperial Society of Teachers of dancing (ISTD) National Grand Finals at the Blackpool Winter Gardens on November 2.”

A total of 24 Ballroom Business dancers who had qualified in regional competitions throughout the year travelled to Blackpool, along with more than 100 supporters and family members.

Chloe added: “Our dancers danced against the country’s leading ISTD dancers and each of them rose to the occasion. We took away 18 national finalist positions.”

Ballroom Business’ Beau Corrigan, 11, won first place in the Latin Cha Cha section, and eight other students were vice champions.

Chloe said: “As a teacher I couldn’t be more proud of my students and their hard work, we have been training hard for this event and the children have dedicated themselves 100 per cent attending practices, lessons and workshops to fully prepare themselves for this very challenging event.
