A MURAL honouring Prodigy star Keith Flint has attracted worldwide attention and praise from his former bandmates.

Artist David "Gnasher" Nash spent seven hours spray painting the iconic image of the famed frontman.

It was splashed across the side of a water tank next to the grandstand at Braintree Town Football Club's ground.

More than 52,000 people have viewed the artist's Facebook post about the picture.

Flint's fellow Prodigy stars Liam Howlett and Maxim took to Braintree Town FC's Instagram page to comment 'Respect guys'.

Articles covering the creation of the mural have appeared in major music publications NME and Kerrang.

Flint's funeral was held in Bocking and attracted thousands of fans, while a petition for a statue of the star in the town has attracted more than 10,000 signatures.

Reacting to the popularity of his artwork, Mr Nash, 45, said: "I’m blown away by the response to this.

"It just goes to show he was a true legend.

"I just thought the town needed a mural instead of a statue.

"I’m so humbled to see the amount of articles to have been shared recently."

The Prodigy frontman died at his home in March this year at the age of 49.
