COLCHESTER Council’s benefits team has been shortlisted for an award.
The finalists of this year’s Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation Awards have been announced and the council has been shortlisted for two awards.
It will now join three other local authorities as finalists in the Benefits and Welfare Reform Team of the Year and Most Improved Team of the Year categories after impressing judges with high standards of service.
David King, councillor responsible for business and resources, said: “I am so pleased the council has been recognised for two prestigious national performance awards. Reaching the finals is a huge credit to our benefits team. They are one of the best in the country.
“I am proud of them for their positive approach and commitment to pleasing customers and the credit they bring to the council.
“They help thousands of the most vulnerable residents every year, across the borough. It is great they do that important job so well.”
The awards will take place in Telford on Wednesday.
