The next day he was admitted voluntarily to mental health services and taken to the Linden Centre in Chelmsford, where he spent a short amount of time before being released into the care of mental health home carers.

The court heard how in the time between leaving the Linden Centre and January 31, he had not been seen by the careers.

Assistant coroner for Essex, Jonathan Goodman recorded a verdict that Mr Fry intended to take his own life.

He said: “Having heard evidence from a number of witnesses, I have reached a conclusion in respect of the death of Peter Fry.

“I have also heard evidence in regard to the attempt to end his life on January 6.

“I also found it a fact that Peter was not seen by mental health carers after he left the Lindon Centre.

“I have come to the conclusion that Peter intended to take his own life.

“Very sadly you have lost a son and a partner at age 20 and you have my deepest condolences for that.”
