IPSWICH Town FC star James Norwood is taking to the ring for a wrestling appearance at Kingsway Hall.

International Pro Wrestling League (IPWL), based in Harwich, are set to host a special wrestling event, Norwood Mania, which will be raising money for charity.

The event will feature six live matches, a charity raffle and much more, with James Norwood as the 'special guest enforcer' for the main event.

Norwood was approached by IPWL after the Ipswich Town Twitter account posted multiple GIFS of the striker celebrating his goals, with inspiration from top wrestling stars Stone Cold and The Rock.

The Ipswich Town striker has made an impressive start to the season, scoring five goals in his first six league matches.

Mark Young, owner of International Pro Wrestling League, said: "When we asked him, he was very excited and keen to get involved, if you don't ask, you don't get.

"It was clear he had an interest in wrestling so it is a really good opportunity to get him in the ring.

"It will be a really great event that will not only give the town some great exposure, but will also be raising money for Cancer Research UK."

Norwood Mania will feature the top stars from Wrestling League, School of Slam and International Pro Wrestling taking place on Wednesday, September 18, at Kingsway Hall, Harwich.

Tickets for the event are available from thewrestlingleague.bigcartel.com from £15, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
