A TRAPPED man had to be released from his car by fire crews this morning after colliding with a tree in Sible Hedingham.

On-call firefighters from Sible Hedingham and Wethersfield were called to Morris Green Road at around 5am to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision where a car had hit a tree.

Firefighters worked for more than an hour to release the man who was trapped in the vehicle.

After managing to free the casualty at approximately 6.36am, he was left in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service before being transported to Colchester General Hospital.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said:"We were called at 5.09am (29th July) with reports of a collision in Sible Hedingham."

"We sent an ambulance crew and our hazardous area response team."

"We transported a patient to Colchester General Hospital for further care by ambulance."
