POLICE have officially named the victim of a high street incident who died at the weekend.

Daryl Bunn, 27, from Maldon, died from his injuries on Sunday after he was assaulted outside the Iceland store at around 8.50pm on Saturday.

Mr Bunn’s family, who were beside him when he sadly passed on, said: "Daryl, our much-loved son, brother, uncle and fiancé, who was taken too soon.

“Everyone who knew him would say what a lovely, beautiful soul he had inside and out, with a heart of gold and he will be truly missed.

“We are totally heart broken by the news and ask that everyone respects our privacy at this time.”

Two men, aged 22 and 23, from Southminster, arrested on suspicion of murder and grievous bodily harm have been released on bail.

A third man arrested – a 23-year-old man from Maldon - has been released without charge.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow, July 4.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Lee Morton said: “This is a tragic incident that has resulted in a young man losing his life, we continue to support Mr Bunn’s family during this difficult time and our thoughts with them.

“We would like to reassure members of Maldon’s community that at this time we do not believe there are any outstanding parties linked with our investigation.”
