FORMER pupils and staff at a Dovercourt primary school are invited to an afternoon of celebration to mark half a century.

Chase Lane Primary School is marking it's 50th anniversary with an exhibition of photographs and artefacts from the school's opening through to the present day.

The event on Friday from 1.30pm to 4.30pm will also include an afternoon tea and a guided tour of the school by year six pupils.

Julie O'Mara, headteacher, said: ""This is a wonderful opportunity to bring together ex-pupils and staff to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chase Lane and it's community."

It is hoped the event will be an opportunity for former members of Chase Lane to share memories as well as enjoy the five decades of memories on display.

Also to celebrate the anniversary, current pupils will all be writing a letter, to their future selves, to be placed into a time capsule and buried on the school grounds - it will be opened in 50 years time.

The school ran a competition to design a 50th anniversary logo to use to promote the day, with Evie Waite's design chosen as the winner.
