DRIVERS are being warned to expect longer journeys than usual with overnight roadworks set to begin on the A12.

Weeknight closures will be in place between Kelvedon and the Boreham Interchange for six weeks from Monday, June 24.

The London-bound carriageway will be closed from 9pm until 5am for two weeks from June 24.

The northbound carriageway will be shut from 9pm until 5am for two weeks from July 8 and for one week from July 22, before the London-bound carriageway closes again for one week from July 29.

A diversion will be in place from Boreham along the A130 and A131 to Braintree.

Drivers will then need to join the A120 eastbound at the Panners Interchange and follow the A120 past Coggeshall before rejoining the A12 at Marks Tey.

The diversions are expected to add around 30 minutes to normal journey times.
