Plans for a new state-of-the-art business centre have been unveiled.

Braintree Council is hoping to build an ‘I-Construct - Innovation Hub’ on the site of the Enterprise Centre, on Braintree’s Springwood industrial estate.

The new business hub, which will be built on a car park, will be home to construction experts who will explore new and different ways to build new houses and commercial properties.

It is hoped the I-Construct project will help to deliver the 716 new homes per year which are required across the district.

The new building will be two storeys high and will contain several offices, a meeting room and two seminar rooms.

According to the planning application, the outside will have a contemporary design with metal cladding used on both the roof and the sides of the centre.

Barker Associates is helping the council with the design phase.

Speaking last year, Braintree Council economic development boss Tom Cunningham said once built, the centre would help bring new businesses to the district.

He added: “The centre will provide a focal point for business support, job creation and product development in the construction sector and will have an impact throughout the South Essex Local Enterprise Partnership region.”
