A store has paid tribute to its "extremely popular" staff member after her untimely passing.

The manager of Tesco Express in Station Road, Burnham, Gillian Atkins said she and her staff were all very shocked when they learned of Beverley O'Connor's death.

To remember their beloved staff member and tireless charitable contributor, the store and the community in Burnham have laid down flowers outside the store with messages of good memories and sympathies to her family.

Gillian Atkins, store manager at Tesco Express in Burnham, said: “We are shocked and saddened to hear the news of Beverley’s passing.

"She was a much loved member of our team and was extremely popular with our customers.

"Beverley will be greatly missed and our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends at this difficult time.”

The Standard's readers have also paid tribute to 'Bev' following her death.

Helena Foreman said: "My sincere condolences to her family and friends, she was such a lovely lady.

"I use to chat to Beverley when I lived in Burnham and used Tesco Express most days."

Burnham resident, Linda Doyle was deeply saddened by the death of Bev, adding: "It is so very sad.

"She was a really lovely genuine person.

"Rest in peace Bev, my deepest sympathies to her family and friends."
