A children's entertainer wowed Britain's Got Talent judges when he "made water, disappear".

Local lad Graeme Mathews, from South Woodham Ferrers did not fill the audience with confidence when he asked Amanda Holden; "Do I just start then?" ahead of his routine.

The camera cut to a pair who were already sceptical of the 34-year-old leopard print wearing magician.

He invited his 'glamourous assistant', Amanda onto the stage, while Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams looked on.

Graeme warmed up the audience with an initial gamut of 'tricks', putting a lighthearted spin on classic magic.

He said: "We are going to start with a simple magic trick.

"I've got some cards here, I've got a birthday card, a wedding card, I've got a get well soon card, welcome to your new home and happy birthday."

He asked Amanda to take one card, explaining he will guess which card it is before searching through the stack.

He then said: "Amanda, I've forgotten which one it was."

His next 'trick' saw him pick up a book asking Amanda: "I have a word on this piece of paper, do you know what the word says."

She correctly replied: "No."

But Graeme's final trick was what truly got the audience on their feet.

The entertainer, who runs his own business called Bam Bam poured water into two cups, asking Amanda to place one on the top of her head, he did the same.

He claimed he and "magic Amanda will make the water disappear".

In a comical attempt to calm her nerves, Graeme said: "Trust me Amanda, I am a magician."

The pair then performed a short dance routine where while Amanda's back was turned, in full view of the audience, Graeme consumed his cup of water.

When the finale came, he said: "The water dance has made the water disappear, does your cup feel lighter Amanda?"

After she again said "no", he replied: "That's a problem."

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

He tipped his cup over his head with as expected no water spilling over him, then it was the judge's turn.

Amanda was fearful, amazed at what Graeme was asking her to do, as were the judges and the audience.

Thankfully, no one was soaked in the performance, and the crowd roared for the South Woodham Ferrers magician.

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Looking to a smiling Simon, Alesha, Amanda and David, Graeme said: "I don't feel quite so nervous now."
