VOLUNTEERS came together to help clean up the act of their village pond.
Residents in Silver End headed to the feature in the Memorial Gardens to remove the rubbish on Sunday.
Organiser John Bailey said: "A massive thank you to all the volunteers who helped us to clean out the village pond this morning.
"I am also ordering, with money raised from Silver Fest, some new native plants for the pond to increase its bio diversity and encourage more animals and insects.
"Well over a ton of green waste was removed and not that much rubbish.
"Our community is only as good as the people within it and this proves yet again that when a community works together great things can be achieved."
Mr Bailey also thanked landscaping company C Bailey and Sons for supplying a digger to help remove leaves, twigs and rocks from the pond.
