SINGERS are in need of beds for this year’s Harwich International Shanty Festival.

This year’s music-filled festival returns to the town in October, but organisers say they are “desperate” to find accommodation for some of the performers.

The festival is now in its 14th year and has barge trips, street theatre, maritime crafts, a shanty train and see shanties perform.

A Harwich International Shanty Festival spokesman said: “With the current lack of accommodation in the town we are desperate to find beds for some of our performers.

“Are there any residents amongst you who would be able to offer rooms for deserving singers?

“Despite being shanty men we find most are very well house trained and make excellent guests.”

The organisers can offer season ticket wristbands to households which are able to help out in this way.
