RESIDENTS in Jaywick are being offered free legal advice thanks to university students.

The Jaywick Law Clinic offers legal advice on a wide variety issues affecting families, such as divorce, access to children, consumer disputes, and employment, housing and benefit problems.

All advice is given by Essex University law students in confidence under the supervision of a qualified supervisor.

The project, organised by the Jaywick Sands Community Forum and the Essex Law Clinic, has been funded by a £2,000 grant from the Peoples Postcode Lottery.

Gill Elkins, from the forum, said: “The grant from the Peoples Postcode Trust for running the law clinic will hopefully increase capacity.

“At present booking are available for end the of May – January, February and March are fully booked and there is no clinic in April as it is the Easter holidays.”

The clinic takes place on the last Wednesday of the month and are by appointment only.
