RESIDENTS across Tendring are being urged to apply for a Community Day of Action to help tackle problems in their area.

The Tendring Community Safety Partnership wants community groups in the district to host their own action day.

The event is aimed at tackling issues of concern for residents in their neighbourhood or street.

A spokesman for Tendring Community Policing Team said: “Successful Community Day of Action applications empower community leaders in Tendring to make a difference to the communities they serve.

“So whether you feel that your area needs to address issues related to crime, antisocial behaviour or improve the quality of life for those within the community, a day of action could be the start of addressing these issues and hopefully leave a long-lasting legacy in your area.”

The Community Safety Partnership said the Community Days of Action build on the success of Street Action Days, which have been held in various roads, estates and trouble hotspots across the district on a monthly basis.

A spokesman for the partnership said: “We would like to ensure that the Community Days of Action leave behind a positive impact on the community we are working for.

“Whether that is an area looked after by members of the community, community tidy days, Neighbourhood Watch schemes or groups that can continue the great work started on the day.

“The Community Day of Action shouldn’t be seen as a one-off, but as a springboard to launch events that support the community and build upon the work carried out on the day.”

To make a successful application, groups will need to provide detailed information on the issues that they would like to be addressed within their community, details of their community group or volunteers.

They also need to state what legacy will remain following the action day.

Successful applicants will also be able to apply to the Community Safety Partnership for up to £2,000 to support their action day.
