A drink driver who pulled a u-turn and drive the wrong way down Head Street has expressed remorse at his actions.

On November 19, student Alexander Von Falkenhausen was driving his Ford Fiesta in Colchester town centre when he was spotted on CCTV cameras pulling the risky manoeuvre near to Yates.

Officers form Essex Police then pulled him over in St John's Street and breathalysed him at the side of the road.

At Colchester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, Von Falkenhausen, of Rouse Way, Colchester, admitted one charge of drink driving.

Representing himself at court, the 21-year-old said he was extremely sorry for what he had done.

He said: "I am very remorseful for my actions and I should have known better.

"I was trying to pick up a friend from Yates but then I found out he was at Walkabout and I thought I could just do a quick u-turn."

Head Street is a one way road, used by buses and traffic to get to Colchester High Street.

Von Falkenhausen was asked in court whether he knew drink driving limit or the area around Head Street, as he is originally from South Africa.

However he admitted he did know he had been in the wrong.
