A HUSBAND and wife are doing their bit to protect the environment by opening a shop selling only vegan and ethically made products.

Rachel Parker and her husband Dave have opened Poured to Perfection in Great Bentley.

The shop, on Carpenter’s Farm, sells products such as reusable wipes, shampoo bars which use no plastic, and knitted dish cloths.

Local crafters are also creating handmade items to sell in the shop, including jewellery made from upcycled pearls and twine instead of string or leather.

Rachel, 45, has been building the Poured to Perfection business since April. She said: “I make all the ethical and vegan candles and diffusers.

“I have also taught Dave to make things, we work together in the shop.”

Dave, 51, used to work for a building company but had an accident on site in March, which left his hand crushed.

Unable to go back to work, he decided to help his wife set up the business and now makes his own products.

Rachel added: “We have had quite a few people come in. The shampoo bars are flying off the shelves because everyone is aware of the issue around plastic and the environment.”

One of their latest products is the Lagoon Solid Shampoo Bar.

The Aloe Vera and rice bran oil bar is vegan friendly, plastic free and uses eco-friendly paper packaging.
