A car owner has been left with a serious arm injury after he was attacked by four people.

Essex Police is investigating reports of an assault which took place sometime around 11.40pm yesterday in Maldon Road, Tiptree.

Officers say a man was injured after disturbing two people who he suspected of trying to break in to his vehicle.

The victim suffered a serious arm injury and has been left with pain and discomfort in his left side after being struck numerous times with a wooden item by up to four people.

The suspects headed off in the direction of The Ship pub immediately after the attack in what has been described as a dark coloured car.
